At 1 A per channel the I²R loss is under 95 mW per output. The 3:4 input-to-output ratio means the three supply rails (3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V) are mapped across the four outputs via the serial interface, so a single part can serve two dual-slot controllers or one four-slot array with shared VCC and VPP rails.

Fault protection and the Status Flag output
Fixed current limiting and over-temperature shutdown protect the switch and the downstream card against shorted loads or excessive ambient heat. The open-drain Status Flag asserts low when a fault is detected — a pull-up resistor to the host's logic rail lets the system controller poll the flag and shut down the slot before the thermal cycle damages the connector.
