Fault protection and output discharge
Fixed current limiting protects the upstream supply and downstream load during a short-circuit or overcurrent event. Overtemperature shutdown prevents die damage if the fault persists. Reverse-current blocking stops backflow from the output to the input when the switch is off — important when the load has its own bulk capacitance or an external voltage source. The integrated load-discharge feature pulls the output to ground when the switch is disabled, preventing a floating output that could hold a downstream device in an undefined state. A status flag output signals fault conditions to the host controller.
Package and footprint considerations
Housed in a 5-pin SOT-23-5 package, the TPS2061CDBVT fits tight PCB layouts. The small footprint demands attention to thermal management: the SOT-23-5 relies on the copper pour and via stitching under the part to dissipate heat at 1A continuous load.
