High-side switch with 70 mOhm pass element
Its 70 mOhm typical on-resistance at 5 V input keeps the voltage drop under 35 mV at 500 mA, which matters when the downstream load has a tight input-voltage tolerance.
500 mA output with fixed current limit
The output is rated for 500 mA continuous, with a fixed current-limiting circuit that clamps the load current during a fault. Unlike adjustable-limit switches, this part does not require an external sense resistor or set resistor. Fault protection includes over-temperature shutdown and undervoltage lockout (UVLO); the open-drain Status Flag (active low) asserts when the switch is in current limit or thermal shutdown, letting a host controller detect the fault.
The 8-SOIC package's thermal pad (if present on the PCB layout) helps keep the junction below the thermal-shutdown threshold under sustained 500 mA load.
The Tape & Reel (TR) packaging option is suited for automated pick-and-place assembly.
