Fault protection set — what trips and what doesn't
Three protection mechanisms are built in: fixed current limiting (no external sense resistor needed), over-temperature shutdown, and under-voltage lockout (UVLO) that holds the output off until the supply rail is stable. The status flag output (open-drain, active low) asserts when current limit or thermal fault occurs, so a host GPIO can log the event or initiate a retry sequence. The switch is non-inverting and requires no Vcc supply — it's self-powered from the load voltage rail.
Package and footprint — the exposed-pad detail
The footprint is compatible with standard TSSOP-8 land patterns, but the centre pad must be connected to a copper plane — preferably the ground plane — to meet the datasheet's thermal resistance targets. Without that pad soldered, the switch derates faster above 85°C ambient.
