What the 90 MHz C28x core means for your control loop
The TMS320F28066UPNT is a 32-bit single-core C28x processor clocked at 90 MHz. It has 256 KB Flash and 34K x 16 RAM.
Temperature grade and environment
Rated for -40°C to 105°C, this MCU fits industrial motor drives and outdoor telecom base stations. The 80-LQFP package (12x12 mm body) reflows on a typical lead-free profile.
Peripherals and connectivity
On the peripheral side you get a 12-channel 12-bit ADC, six PWM modules (with dead-band and trip-zone logic), plus CAN, I²C, SPI, UART, and USB for system communication. The internal oscillator saves a crystal on the BOM, though you'll still want an external clock if the application demands tight PWM synchronization across multiple nodes. Brown-out detect and POR are built in, which simplifies the power-up sequencing — no external supervisor needed for most designs.
Lifecycle and sourcing reality
The lifecycle record shows one entry as end-of-life (eol_hot) and another as Active. For procurement, treat it as a phase-out risk and source through independent distribution.
