The TMS320F28055PNQ runs a single 32-bit C28x core at 60 MHz. The 128 KB Flash and 10K x 16 RAM support a moderate firmware image.
Peripherals and I/O for a motor-control BOM
Sixteen 12-bit ADC channels are enough to sample three phase currents plus DC-link voltage and a couple of temperature sensors in a typical field-oriented control scheme. The PWM module with built-in dead-time generation and fault handling (brown-out detect, POR, WDT) reduces external glue logic. CANbus and SCI provide the typical automotive network interfaces; SPI handles an external encoder or resolver interface. The 42 I/O in an 80-LQFP package leave a few spare pins for a debug header or an extra sensor input.
