What this C2000 Piccolo MCU brings to the control loop
The 13-channel 12-bit ADC samples synchronously with the PWM module, so current and voltage readings align to the switching edge without software jitter. Brown-out detect and POR keep the core from running on a drooping supply — critical in noisy industrial environments.
Memory and peripheral budget for the BOM
With 32 KB of Flash, the firmware space fits a moderate control algorithm plus bootloader and communication stack. The 6K x 16 RAM (12 KB) holds two or three sets of motor phase currents, rotor angle, and PI regulator states. If your application needs more data logging or a larger lookup table, budget for external SPI SRAM or EEPROM. Connectivity includes I²C, SCI (UART), and SPI — enough for a Modbus RTU link, an encoder interface, or a configuration EEPROM. The 22 GPIOs cover a handful of push-pull outputs, fault inputs, and the ADC trigger lines.
Package and mounting — 48-LQFP
The supplier device package is 48-LQFP (7x7).
