The TMS320F280220DAT is a 32-bit fixed-point C28x MCU built for real-time control. Its 40 MHz core clock delivers enough throughput for one or two control loops. The 16 KB on-chip Flash and 3K x 16 SRAM limit firmware to compact algorithms. Six 12-bit ADC channels sample current and voltage feedback simultaneously.
TI has marked this device Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND). The part is still manufacturable and available through existing channels, but TI will not invest in new fab capacity or long-term support. For an existing BOM, you can continue sourcing it — but treat this as a last-time-buy window. Plan a qualification run for a pin-compatible replacement before TI issues a formal End-of-Life notice.
