Dual rail-to-rail op-amp for 2.7 V to 16 V rails
The TLV272CD is a general-purpose operational amplifier from Texas Instruments, packing two independent circuits in an 8-SOIC package. It operates from a 2.7 V to 16 V supply span, so it fits into both 3.3 V and 5 V mixed-signal boards without a separate rail. Each channel delivers a 3 MHz gain-bandwidth product and a 2.6V/µs slew rate, giving enough loop gain for audio-band filtering and sensor conditioning up to a few hundred kHz. The rail-to-rail output stage swings within millivolts of both supply rails, preserving headroom in low-voltage single-supply designs — a common constraint in battery-powered or 3.3 V systems.
Supply current and input bias — low-power signal chain fit
Quiescent current is 550 µA per amplifier, so the dual package draws 1.1 mA total — low enough for always-on sensor interfaces in portable instruments without a heatsink. Input bias current is 1 pA typical, which keeps DC offset errors negligible even with 1 MΩ source impedances — a useful margin for photodiode or high-impedance transducer front-ends. Maximum input offset voltage is 500 µV, which sets the DC accuracy floor for precision amplification; external trimming or auto-zero techniques are not required for most 8-bit to 10-bit signal paths. Each output can source or sink 8 mA, enough to drive a 2 kΩ load to within 200 mV of the rails at 5 V supply.
Commercial temperature grade, SOIC-8 footprint
Rated for 0°C to 70°C ambient — the commercial temperature band covers bench test equipment, office peripherals, and indoor instrumentation but not automotive or extended industrial enclosures. Housed in an 8-SOIC (3.90 mm width) with a supplier device package of 8-SOIC, the footprint matches the industry-standard narrow SOIC-8 land pattern — a direct drop-in for existing PCB layouts using this form factor. Supplied in tube packaging, suitable for low-to-mid volume assembly lines; for high-volume reels, check the alternate ordering option TLV272CDR.
