JFET op-amp for precision analog front-ends
The TLE2081IP is a single JFET-input operational amplifier from TI's Excalibur™ series, packaged in an 8-pin DIP for through-hole assembly. It delivers 10 MHz gain-bandwidth product and a 45 V/µs slew rate, which together set the small-signal bandwidth ceiling for a given closed-loop gain — at a gain of 10, the -3 dB point lands near 1 MHz, adequate for fast sensor conditioning or ADC driver stages.
Supply flexibility and temperature range
Runs from a single supply as low as 4.5 V up to 38 V, or a split supply of ±2.25 V to ±19 V, suiting it for both battery-powered instruments and industrial 24 V rails. The operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C covers industrial enclosures and outdoor telecom cabinets without forced cooling. Quiescent supply current is 1.7 mA typical per amplifier, keeping the thermal budget low in a multi-channel board where several op-amps share a single regulator.
DC precision and input characteristics
Input bias current is 20 pA typical — the JFET front-end keeps this in the picoamp range across temperature, so a high-impedance source like a pH probe or photodiode does not see a significant voltage drop across the source resistance. Input offset voltage is 490 µV typical, which sets the DC error floor for a precision amplifier stage without external nulling. Output can source or sink 48 mA per channel, enough to drive a 600 Ω load to within 2 V of the rails or to charge a sample-and-hold capacitor quickly.
