14-bit SAR ADC at 200kSPS — signal-chain fit
The TLC3578IPW is a 14-bit successive-approximation-register (SAR) ADC from Texas Instruments, sampling at 200k samples per second. That 200kSPS rate places it in the sweet spot for industrial data-acquisition channels — fast enough to capture vibration or pressure transients without oversampling, but not so fast that the digital interface demands a high-speed serial engine. It accepts either 4 or 8 inputs, configurable as pseudo-differential or single-ended. The pseudo-differential mode rejects common-mode noise on the return path — useful when the sensor ground is a few hundred millivolts above the ADC ground, which happens on long cable runs in a factory panel.
Supply rails and interface — what the board needs
The analog supply is fixed at 5V; the digital supply runs from 2.7V to 5.5V, so it can interface directly with a 3.3V or 5V SPI bus without a level shifter. The 1:1 S/H:ADC ratio means each conversion samples and converts in one cycle — no pipeline delay, which simplifies the timing in a multiplexed system. The 24-TSSOP package (4.40mm width) is a common footprint for mixed-signal boards. The external reference requirement means the board designer controls the full-scale range — a precision reference like the REF50xx series pairs well here.
The tube packaging is the standard delivery for prototype and low-volume builds; reel options exist for production runs.
