Micropower CMOS op-amp for battery-operated signal chains

The TLC27L1BCD is a single general-purpose CMOS op-amp from Texas Instruments' LinCMOS™ family, drawing just 14 µA of supply current. That supply budget makes it a fit for battery-powered or always-on sensor front-ends where every microamp counts — think portable instrumentation, environmental monitors, or threshold detectors that wake periodically. Gain-bandwidth product is 110 kHz, and the slew rate is 0.05 V/µs. This combination limits large-signal bandwidth to roughly 3 kHz at 10 Vpp output swing — adequate for DC-coupled measurements, slow-moving analog signals, or anti-aliasing filters ahead of a low-speed ADC, but not for audio or fast control loops. Input bias current is 0.7 pA typical, enabled by the CMOS input stage. That matters when the source impedance is high — a photodiode, a pH probe, or a high-value resistor divider — because the bias current does not create a significant voltage drop across the source resistance.

Supply flexibility and output drive

No need to stock different grades for different rail voltages within that range. The output stage is not rail-to-rail; expect the output swing to be about 1.5 V from each rail at light load. Input offset voltage is 260 µV typical. That is moderate precision — fine for general-purpose amplification and comparator duties, but not for microvolt-level measurements where a chopper-stabilized amplifier would be needed.

No thermal pad, no exposed paddle. The footprint matches any generic SO-8 land pattern; decoupling with a 0.1 µF ceramic close to pins 4 (V-) and 8 (V+) is sufficient for the low bandwidth. If the board sees a hot enclosure in summer or a cold warehouse, the TLC27L1BCD is outside its guaranteed spec.
