Automotive CAN transceiver for 12V/24V body and powertrain nodes
The Texas Instruments TCAN1144DYYRQ1 is a half-duplex CAN transceiver designed for automotive networks, supporting data rates up to 5 Mbps — sufficient for CAN FD frames where payload throughput exceeds classic 1 Mbps CAN 2.0 limits. The supply range from 4.5 V to 28 V covers both 12 V and 24 V vehicle electrical systems, with margin for load-dump and cold-crank transients.
5 Mbps data rate and CAN FD readiness
At 5 Mbps the transceiver supports CAN Flexible Data Rate (CAN FD) frames without bit-rate limitations, which matters when the network carries firmware-update or high-speed sensor data alongside standard CAN messages. The receiver hysteresis of 135 mV provides noise immunity on the differential bus, reducing false bit detection in electrically noisy environments like motor drives or DC-DC converter bays.
Supply range and bus protection
The 4.5 V to 28 V supply range allows direct connection to a 12 V or 24 V battery rail without an external regulator for the transceiver supply. The single driver/receiver pair handles one CAN node; the SOT-23-14 thin package (14-SOT-23-THIN) keeps board area small for space-constrained ECU modules like door controllers or seat-position modules.
