The Texas Instruments SN75LVDS387DGGR is a 16-channel LVDS line driver designed for high-speed point-to-point data transmission over controlled-impedance traces or twisted-pair cables. This is a pure driver — 16 outputs, zero receivers — so the board designer needs a separate LVDS receiver on the far end. Not rated for the engine bay or a factory floor without a conditioned enclosure.
At 630 Mbps each channel can drive a 1080p video stream or a parallel bus of control signals without needing a serializer. The LVDS swing (~350 mV differential) keeps EMI low, but the edge rate is fast enough that stub lengths and via count matter — keep the trace impedance matched to 100 Ω differential and limit stubs to under 0.5 inch. A layout that worked for TTL-level signals at 50 MHz will likely need a re-spin for this part.
64-TSSOP — footprint and reflow notes
The 64-TSSOP package (6.10 mm body width, 0.5 mm pitch) is a fine-pitch surface-mount part. The Tape & Reel (TR) suffix means it ships on 13-inch reels, typically 2000 pieces per reel. A solder-paste stencil thickness of 0.125 mm is a safe starting point.
