16 LVDS receivers in a 64-TSSOP — what the channel count buys you
The Texas Instruments SN75LVDS386DGGR packs 16 LVDS receivers into a single 64-TSSOP package, each capable of 250 Mbps. That is a 4 Gbps aggregate inbound bandwidth in one IC, which shrinks the board area for parallel or serial LVDS links compared to stacking eight dual-channel parts.
250 Mbps per channel — routing and cable margin
At 250 Mbps the differential signal edge rate is fast enough that PCB trace impedance control (100 Ω differential) and length matching matter for clean eye openings. The receiver handles the LVDS swing, so the interconnect budget is about signal integrity, not drive strength. For backplane or flat-cable runs inside a chassis, 250 Mbps is a comfortable speed where FR-4 losses are manageable without equalization. If the system needs 400 Mbps or higher, look at the faster siblings in the 75LVDS family.
That means no last-time-buy window to schedule, no forced redesign for a replacement.
