Full-duplex operation means the driver and receiver are active simultaneously, so a single SN75LVDS180D handles bidirectional traffic on a dedicated pair — no direction-control pin, no turnaround dead time. The 155 Mbps data rate supports common LVDS applications like clock distribution at 100 MHz or serialized data at 16-bit parallel-to-serial conversion rates. At 3.3 V nominal, the differential output swing stays within LVDS levels (350 mV typical), keeping EMI low and common-mode rejection high.
No direct pin-compatible replacement is cited in the official records, though the SN65LVDS180 family (industrial temperature grade) is a common cross-shop candidate for extended-range applications. Date-code and lot traceability are verified before shipment; any stock with inconsistent laser etching or packaging is rejected.
Supply decoupling at 0.1 µF per pin pair is typical; the LVDS outputs require 100 Ω termination at the receiver for proper signal levels.
