For new designs, a pin-compatible alternative in the same 74LVC1G06 function — such as the SN74LVC1G06DCKR in a SC-70-5 package — should be evaluated, though the DSBGA footprint differs.
Because the output is open-drain, there is no internal pull-up — the high-level voltage is set by an external resistor to the desired rail. This is the feature that makes the part useful for level translation: a 3.3 V input can drive a 5 V output simply by pulling up to 5 V.
The 5-DSBGA package requires a solder-paste stencil with small apertures and X-ray inspection for void detection — it is not a hand-solder or rework-friendly footprint. If your assembly line is not set up for fine-pitch BGA, consider the SC-70 or SOT-23 packaged versions of the same function.
