What the open-drain output buys you
The SN74LVC1G06DCKTG4 is a single inverting buffer from TI's 74LVC family, but the output is open-drain — not the usual push-pull. That means the output pin can only sink current to ground; it cannot source it. The pull-up resistor you add on the board determines the high-level voltage, which lets this little SC-70-5 part level-shift between different supply domains or wire-OR multiple open-drain outputs onto a shared line like an interrupt or reset bus.
The open-drain output lets you pull up to a different voltage than VCC, so this single part can bridge a 1.8 V controller to a 3.3 V peripheral or a 5 V legacy bus — no second level-shifter needed.
The SC-70-5 footprint is tiny — about 2.0 mm × 1.25 mm — which matters when you are squeezing a pull-up resistor and this buffer into a corner of a crowded PCB.
