Quad 2-input multiplexer in a breadboard-friendly DIP
The SN74F257N is a 4 x 2:1 multiplexer from the 74F family — it selects one of two 4-bit input words and routes it to the output, controlled by a common select line. This is the through-hole 16-DIP variant, so it fits standard breadboards and solderable prototype boards without an adapter. Supply range is 4.5V to 5.5V, single-rail, making it a drop-in for classic 5V TTL or 5V CMOS logic systems. Output drive is specified at 3mA sourcing and 24mA sinking — enough to drive a LED through a resistor or feed the input of another 74F gate without a buffer.
Temperature grade and package — bench to light industrial
The 16-DIP (0.300-inch row spacing) package is through-hole, easy to hand-solder, and socket-friendly for prototyping.
