74ABT buffer — 5 V bus, 48-TVSOP, 32/64 mA drive
The SN74ABT16244ADGVR is a 16-bit non-inverting buffer with 3-state outputs from the 74ABT BiCMOS family. Output drive is rated 32 mA source and 64 mA sink per channel. That asymmetric sink strength is typical for ABT buffers and matters when the part drives a heavily loaded backplane or a long trace with multiple receivers. The 48-TVSOP package (4.40 mm width) shares the same footprint as a standard TSSOP-48, but the thinner body profile (1.2 mm max) can affect clearance under a heatsink or in a mezzanine stack. Confirm the board keep-out zone before committing the layout.
The 74ABT family uses a BiCMOS output stage that gives higher output drive than pure CMOS at the same supply voltage, but the quiescent supply current is higher — budget around 30 mA per device at no load, which adds up on a dense board.
The 48-TVSOP (0.173-inch body width, 4.40 mm) is a fine-pitch surface-mount package. The supplier device package is 48-TVSOP, which is electrically identical to TSSOP-48 but with a thinner body. If the existing board has a TSSOP-48 footprint, the TVSOP will fit the same land pattern, but the reduced stand-off height may change the solder-joint inspection criteria.
