The 70 mV of receiver hysteresis provides noise margin on long cable runs typical of factory-floor ControlNet segments.
Half-duplex operation means the bus alternates between transmit and receive — the driver and receiver share the same differential pair, with direction controlled by the DE and RE pins. This is standard for ControlNet and RS-485 multi-drop networks. The 10 Mbps data rate matches the ControlNet physical layer requirement, so timing closure on the bus is straightforward with the 5 V supply rail.
Surface-mount assembly keeps the board compatible with standard reflow profiles.
