RS-485/RS-422 transceiver for industrial links
The 200 kbps data rate places this part in the slower, more robust tier of RS-485 transceivers. At this speed, the driver slew rate is deliberately limited, which reduces EMI and allows longer cable runs without termination headaches — think 1000+ feet at 200 kbps with proper biasing. If your application needs 1 Mbps or higher (e.g., Profibus at 12 Mbps), this is not the part; you would step to the SN65HVD3082E or SN65HVD3085E family members.
Receiver hysteresis and noise margin
The receiver includes 30 mV of hysteresis, which helps reject noise on long or electrically noisy bus segments. In practice, this means the receiver will not chatter on a slowly rising differential signal or when the bus is idle with fail-safe biasing. For a calibration or MRO lab environment where signal integrity matters across a plant floor, that hysteresis is a practical advantage over older parts with none.
The 10-VSSOP (also known as 10-MSOP with 0.118" body width) is a compact surface-mount package. Pin 1 orientation and land pattern follow the standard MSOP-10 footprint; the 3.00 mm width keeps board area tight.
It is also ROHS3 compliant, so no exemption-based restrictions apply for EU or similar markets.
