It integrates a single driver and receiver (1/1) in an 8-SOIC package, with 160 mV of receiver hysteresis to reject bus noise on long or heavily loaded networks.

160 mV hysteresis — noise margin on the bus

It prevents the receiver from toggling on ground-bounce or coupled motor-drive noise, which a part with lower hysteresis might interpret as a start-of-frame. For a DeviceNet node at the end of a 500 m trunk, this margin buys you reliable communication without external filtering.

Supply rail discipline

If your 5 V rail droops below 4.75 V during cold-crank or brownout, the transceiver may drop off the bus. Plan for a regulated 5 V rail — a simple LDO or DC-DC with tight tolerance keeps the node alive.
