Military-temperature RS-485 for harsh-environment links
It delivers a single driver and single receiver on one channel, supporting data rates up to 5 Mbps with 130 mV of receiver hysteresis for noise immunity on long bus runs. The supply range of 4.5V to 5.5V matches standard 5V industrial and avionics backplanes. This is the 'M' (military temp) and 'EP' (enhanced product) variant of the base 65HVD21 family, designed for applications where the standard commercial or industrial temperature grades won't survive — think engine bay electronics, satellite telemetry links, or outdoor telecom cabinets in desert or arctic deployments.
Rework and board-level handling notes
The 8-SOIC package is about as rework-friendly as it gets — the 0.154-inch body width and 1.27 mm pitch leave plenty of room for a fine-tip iron or hot-air pencil. No exposed thermal pad to worry about, which simplifies the stencil and reduces the risk of solder bridging under the package.
