Full-duplex RS-485 transceiver for 5V industrial buses
The Texas Instruments SN65HVD1791DG4 is a full-duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceiver in a 14-SOIC package, rated for 115 Kbps signaling over differential twisted-pair cables.
At 115 Kbps this transceiver is in the moderate-speed tier, not the high-throughput class (10 Mbps+). The rise and fall times are slow enough that signal reflections on unterminated stubs are less critical than at higher rates, but for runs over a few hundred feet you still want a termination resistor at the far end. The 50 mV hysteresis helps keep the receiver from chattering on a lightly loaded or idle bus.
