10 Mbps half-duplex RS-485 transceiver in a through-hole DIP
It integrates one driver and one receiver in an 8-pin PDIP package, making it a drop-in replacement for legacy 5 V designs that have migrated to a 3.3 V bus. The 35 mV of receiver hysteresis gives it clean noise margin on long twisted-pair runs in factory-floor or outdoor telecom installations.
Through-hole PDIP — still the right call for serviceable boards
The 8-DIP (0.300", 7.62 mm) through-hole package is a deliberate choice for boards that get reworked in the field or assembled in low-volume runs where reflow isn't economical. The 8-PDIP footprint is standard across the SN65HVD11x family, so a board laid out for this part can also take the SN65HVD10 or SN65HVD12 without a layout change — handy when you need to adjust data rate or fail-safe biasing on the same PCB.
