IO-Link transceiver, not just another RS-485 part
The Texas Instruments SN65HVD101RGBR is an IO-Link transceiver in a 20-VFQFN Exposed Pad package, designed for single-channel point-to-point communication in industrial sensor and actuator networks.
Supply voltage: the dual-range decision
The two distinct supply ranges (3V-3.6V and 4.5V-5.5V) are not a typo — this part is designed to operate cleanly on either a nominal 3.3V or 5V rail. That matters when you are sourcing a BOM for a sensor head running on 3.3V logic but the line driver stage needs the 5V swing for IO-Link signal integrity. The receiver hysteresis is specified at 1 V, which provides noise margin on the industrial twisted-pair cable.
Temperature grade: factory-floor ready
The 105°C ceiling covers self-heating in the VFQFN package when driving the IO-Link line continuously.
