Obsolete — sourcing the LP2980IM5-4.7 today
Fixed 4.7 V output at 50 mA maximum. The 0.22 V max dropout at full load means the input rail can sag to 4.92 V before the output drops out — useful for battery-powered or lightly regulated 5 V buses where headroom is tight. PSRR is 63 dB at 1 kHz — adequate for filtering 1 MHz switching noise from a preceding DC-DC converter, though the rejection rolls off above a few hundred kHz. The 95 µA quiescent current keeps the self-consumption low in always-on sensor or reference rails. Protection includes over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuit.
Housed in a SC-74A / SOT-753 package, supplier device package SOT-23-5. Five-pin surface-mount with an enable pin — the enable lets the system power-cycle the regulator without a series switch. The SOT-23-5 footprint is widely second-sourced across the industry; the board layout is standard.
