2.5V fixed LDO with 63 dB PSRR — what it buys the rail
The LP2980IM5-2.5/NOPB is a single-output positive LDO from Texas Instruments that delivers a fixed 2.5 V at up to 50 mA. The dropout voltage maxes at 0.22 V at the full 50 mA load, so the input can sit as low as 2.72 V and still regulate.
That means TI has announced end-of-life and the final purchase window is open — once it closes, the part will not be available through the factory channel. For an existing design, this is the time to secure lifetime buy quantities or qualify a drop-in replacement. No official successor is listed on the record. The LP2980 base product number covers a family of fixed-output LDOs; a pin-compatible alternative at the same voltage and current rating would need to be validated against the SOT-23-5 footprint and the enable and protection feature set.
Industrial temperature range and protection set
The protection features — over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuit — cover the common fault modes in a 24 V industrial bus or a 12 V automotive rail. Quiescent current is 95 µA typical, which keeps the standby draw low in battery-backed or always-on circuits.
