Fixed 3V rail for low-power designs
The LP2950-30LP is a single-output, fixed 3V positive LDO regulator from Texas Instruments, delivering up to 100 mA continuous current. Its 0.6V maximum dropout at 100 mA means the input rail can dip to 3.6V and still hold the output in regulation — a practical margin for 5V or 3.7V Li-ion supplies that sag under load.
Dropout and quiescent current trade-offs

The low idle current suits battery-powered equipment where every microamp counts, but the 14 mA ceiling means the pass element can draw significant bias during dropout — factor that into thermal calculations for the TO-92-3 package. Protection features include over-current and over-temperature shutdown, which prevent the part from self-destructing under a sustained short or excessive ambient temperature.
