Clock tree anchor for high-speed serial links
The Texas Instruments LMK05318BRGZR is a clock synchronizer and jitter cleaner with an integrated PLL that includes a bypass mode. It accepts a single-ended LVCMOS reference and can generate up to eight output clocks across four differential families — CML, HCSL, LVDS, LVPECL — plus LVCMOS. The 3:8 input-to-output ratio means you can fan out a single reference to multiple line cards or ASICs without external distribution buffers.
Output frequency ceiling and what it buys you
The device supports maximum output frequencies of 200 MHz, 400 MHz, and 1.25 GHz depending on the output type and divider setting. The bypass path lets the PLL be shut off when the input clock is already clean enough — useful during system bring-up or when a downstream PLL handles the jitter filtering.
Supply rail and temperature grade — fit for outdoor infrastructure
That tolerance matters: the internal PLL charge-pump and VCO noise floor are sensitive to supply ripple, so the rail needs a low-noise LDO or a dedicated supply filter.
