PLL-based clock conditioner for high-speed signal chains
The LMK04010BISQX/NOPB is a clock conditioner from Texas Instruments that integrates a phase-locked loop (PLL) to clean jitter on incoming clock signals. It accepts LVCMOS, LVDS, or LVPECL inputs and outputs 2VPECL or LVPECL, making it a fit for cleaning up reference clocks in high-speed ADC/DAC or FPGA-based systems where phase noise matters.
1.296 GHz ceiling and 2:5 fanout
With a maximum output frequency of 1.296 GHz, this part covers the clock rates needed for 10-Gigabit Ethernet, JESD204B serial links, and high-speed data converters. The 2:5 input-to-output ratio means two input references can be conditioned and fanned out to five output paths, useful for distributing a clean clock across multiple board destinations. The supply voltage range is tight at 3.15 V to 3.45 V, so the power rail feeding this device should be regulated within 5 % — a standard 3.3 V LDO with 1 % tolerance covers it.
The exposed pad is the primary thermal path — the datasheet's recommended land pattern should be followed to keep junction temperature within limits at the 1.296 GHz operating point. Surface-mount assembly with Tape & Reel packaging supports standard pick-and-place. The 48-WQFN package has a 0.5 mm pitch; a solder stencil aperture ratio of 0.8–0.9 for the thermal pad helps avoid voiding during reflow.
