2.6 GHz clock tree with 14 outputs — what the fanout buys you
The LMK03806BISQX/NOPB is a clock generator from Texas Instruments that synthesises up to 2.6 GHz from a single reference — LVCMOS, LVDS, LVPECL, or crystal — and fans it out to 14 independent outputs. That 1:14 ratio means one device replaces a PLL plus several clock buffers in a high-speed ADC/DAC or SerDes reference design, cutting the BOM count and the jitter budget from multiple cascaded stages. The PLL includes a bypass mode, letting you pass a clean external clock straight through when the system needs a deterministic frequency reference without the PLL loop dynamics. The differential input and output paths keep signal integrity at the 2.6 GHz ceiling — important for a 10+ Gbps SerDes or a JESD204B interface where every femtosecond of jitter eats into the eye opening.
The 64-WQFN (9x9 mm) exposed pad demands a thermal via array under the paddle — the datasheet's recommended land pattern should be followed to keep the junction temperature within limits at the 3.45 V supply rail. The single-circuit PLL core means one supply plane; no split-rail sequencing needed.
