Cable driver for serial digital video
The LMH0303SQE/NOPB is a single-channel cable driver from Texas Instruments, designed to drive 75-ohm coaxial cable for serial digital video signals. It supports both DVB-ASI and SMPTE standards, making it a direct fit for broadcast and professional video infrastructure like production switchers, routers, and distribution amplifiers. The part operates from a tightly regulated 3.13V to 3.46V supply rail, which is typical for the PLL and output stage in SDI drivers. The serial control interface allows for output slew rate adjustment and cable length equalization settings without external components.
Package and layout considerations
Housed in a 16-WQFN with an exposed pad (4x4 mm body), the LMH0303SQE/NOPB requires a thermal land pattern on the PCB to sink heat from the output stage. The exposed paddle must be soldered to a ground plane with adequate thermal vias to keep the junction temperature within limits during continuous 270 Mbps or 1.485 Gbps operation.
