1.485 Gbps serializer for broadcast video links
The Texas Instruments LMH0050SQX/NOPB is a 5-input, 1-output serializer that converts parallel LVDS data into a serial CML stream at up to 1.485 Gbps. It targets SMPTE-compliant serial digital interfaces in broadcast video production, medical imaging, and professional display systems where a single coax or fiber link carries uncompressed HD-SDI video. The part operates from dual supply rails — a 2.375V to 2.625V core and a 3.135V to 3.465V I/O — and is specified over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
Dual-supply power tree and decoupling
The LMH0050SQX/NOPB requires two separate supply domains: a 2.5V nominal core rail and a 3.3V nominal I/O rail. Sequence the rails right — the core supply should stabilize before the I/O supply to avoid latch-up at power-up. Each supply pin needs a 0.1 µF ceramic capacitor placed within 2 mm of the pin, plus a bulk 10 µF per rail. The exposed pad on the 48-WQFN package is the primary thermal and electrical ground path; a 2×2 via array under the pad to a solid ground plane keeps the junction temperature in check at the 1.485 Gbps line rate.
Active lifecycle — no obsolescence risk for new designs
The LMH0050SQX/NOPB carries an active product status with ROHS3 compliance. The NOPB suffix confirms a lead-free, RoHS-compliant finish — no separate conversion step needed for assemblies requiring Pb-free reflow.
