Digital temperature sensor with I²C interface
The LM75BIMMX-5/NOPB is a digital local temperature sensor that communicates over an I²C bus, outputting temperature data with 9-bit resolution. This makes it a straightforward drop-in for any system with an available I²C port — no additional ADC or signal conditioning needed on the board. For a general-purpose thermal monitoring or thermal-shutdown application, the ±2°C figure is the one that governs normal operation; the ±3°C limit only applies at the temperature extremes.
Housed in an 8-VSSOP package (the supplier device package designation for the 8-TSSOP/8-MSOP footprint), the LM75BIMMX-5/NOPB is a surface-mount component with a 3.00 mm body width. The sensor draws power from the same rail as the I²C bus, simplifying the power tree.
Built-in features for system-level control
The part includes an output switch, programmable temperature limit, and shutdown mode. The programmable limit allows the sensor to assert an OS (overtemperature shutdown) output when the temperature crosses a user-set threshold — useful for fan control or system protection without polling the I²C bus continuously. Shutdown mode reduces power consumption when temperature monitoring is not needed.
