The LM75BIM-5/NOPB is a digital local temperature sensor from Texas Instruments that communicates over I²C. The part includes an open-drain OS output that asserts when the temperature exceeds a programmable limit, so the host does not have to poll the I²C bus continuously. It operates from a 3V to 5.5V supply, which means it can run directly off a 3.3V or 5V rail without an extra regulator.
Accuracy and temperature guard-banding
The typical accuracy is ±2°C over the -25°C to 100°C range, with a worst-case ±3°C across the full -55°C to 125°C span. That ±3°C ceiling matters when setting a thermal shutdown threshold: if the system must trip at 105°C, the sensor could read as low as 102°C at that actual temperature, so the threshold should be programmed at least 3°C below the critical limit to avoid a missed trip.
Supply voltage and I²C bus integration
The 3V to 5.5V supply range covers both 3.3V and 5V logic systems without a level shifter on the I²C lines, as long as the pull-up resistors are tied to the same supply rail. The I²C address is set by the three-state AD0 pin, allowing up to three devices on the same bus without address conflict.
