Sync separation for composite video
The LM1881M extracts composite sync, vertical sync, burst/back-porch timing, and odd/even field information from standard NTSC, PAL, or SECAM video signals — a single-chip solution for digitizing or processing analog video in professional video equipment. Operating from a 5V to 12V supply, it accepts composite video at standard 1 Vpp levels and outputs TTL-compatible sync pulses that drive the blanking and clamping logic of video ADCs or scan converters.
8-SOIC footprint and PCB integration
Housed in an 8-SOIC package (0.154" body width, 3.90 mm), the LM1881M is a surface-mount part that routes directly into a standard SOIC-8 land pattern — no special thermal pad or exposed paddle, so a two-layer board with a ground plane under the package is sufficient for clean signal integrity. The Bulk package designation means it ships in tubes or trays, not tape-and-reel — a detail to note when programming a pick-and-place machine for medium-to-low volume builds.
Active lifecycle and compliance
The part is marked RoHS non-compliant, meaning it contains lead above the exemption thresholds — verify your assembly's RoHS exemption policy before committing to a lead-free reflow profile.
