Stepper motor driver for 8–37 V rails, 1 A per phase
The Texas Instruments DRV8884RHRR is a fully integrated bipolar stepper motor driver that combines the control logic and Power MOSFET output stage in a single 28-pin WQFN package. It drives one bipolar stepper motor at up to 1 A per winding from a motor supply rail between 8 V and 37 V. The logic supply accepts 0 V to 5.3 V, making it straightforward to interface with 3.3 V or 5 V microcontrollers. Step resolution is programmable from full-step down to 1/16 microstepping, which smooths low-speed motion and reduces audible noise in applications like printer transports, ATM mechanisms, and small CNC stages.
Active lifecycle and ROHS3 compliance
It is ROHS3 compliant, which satisfies the EU RoHS exemption-free material restriction requirements.
Package and mounting — 28-WQFN with exposed pad
The part is supplied in a 28-WFQFN Exposed Pad package (supplier device package 28-WQFN, 5.5 mm × 3.5 mm body). Surface-mount assembly requires a thermal pad on the PCB for heat sinking; the exposed paddle must be soldered to a copper plane to keep junction temperatures within the -40°C to 125°C operating range at 1 A continuous output. The logic interface is 0 V to 5.3 V, so a 3.3 V or 5 V MCU port connects directly without level shifters.
