Motor-driver integration for bipolar stepper and brushed DC loads
The DRV8834RGER is a fully integrated driver combining control logic and power MOSFETs in one 24-VQFN package, supporting both bipolar stepper and brushed DC motors. Supply range spans 2.5 V to 10.8 V, and the output is rated for 1.5 A continuous per winding — enough for small NEMA 11–17 steppers or a single brushed DC motor in a printer, valve actuator, or lab instrument. Microstepping resolution reaches 1/32 step, which smooths low-speed torque ripple and reduces audible noise compared to full-step drives. The logic interface accepts simple step/direction inputs, so no SPI or I²C bus is required — a straight GPIO connection from any MCU works.
Supply rail and thermal budget for the 24-VQFN package
The same 2.5 V to 10.8 V rail powers both the logic and the motor load, simplifying the power tree. Compared to the DRV8811PWPR, which runs from a fixed 8 V supply and offers only 1/8 microstepping, the DRV8834RGER gives a wider input range and finer step resolution. The DRV8811 delivers 1.9 A output versus 1.5 A, so if your load draws above 1.5 A, the DRV8811 is the higher-current sibling — but it loses the low-voltage flexibility and finer microstepping.
