The DRV8833PW integrates four NMOS half-bridge outputs, each rated for 1.5 A continuous. That per-bridge current determines the torque a brushed DC motor can deliver or the phase current for a bipolar stepper. With two bridges per chip, a single DRV8833PW drives two independent brushed DC motors at 1.5 A each, or one bipolar stepper motor with both phases driven at 1.5 A.
Supply rail — 2.7 V to 10.8 V
Both the logic supply and the motor load share the same 2.7 V to 10.8 V range. This means a single regulated rail powers the driver and the motors — no separate VCC and VM supplies needed.
PWM interface and control
The DRV8833PW accepts standard PWM signals on its four inputs, one per half-bridge. An internal charge pump generates the gate-drive voltage above the supply rail, so the NMOS outputs saturate fully even at low supply voltages. The PWM frequency is limited only by the external controller's timing — the driver itself handles up to several hundred kHz without issue.
The 16-TSSOP package with a 0.65 mm pitch and exposed thermal pad requires a solid copper pour on the PCB bottom layer to keep the junction below the thermal shutdown threshold during sustained 1.5 A output.
