2.5 A bipolar stepper driver with 1/32 microstepping
The DRV8825PWP is a fully integrated bipolar stepper motor driver from Texas Instruments, combining the control logic and power MOSFET output stage in a single 28-PowerTSSOP package. It drives one two-phase stepper motor at up to 2.5 A per winding from an 8.2 V to 45 V supply rail — covering common 12 V, 24 V, and 36 V industrial bus voltages. The 1/32 microstepping resolution (step resolution 1 through 1/32) delivers smooth low-speed rotation and reduces the audible noise and mechanical resonance that plague full-step drives. This makes it a natural fit for CNC spindles, 3D printer axes, and lab automation stages where position ripple matters. The logic interface is simple STEP/DIR or parallel control — no SPI or I2C setup required, so a basic microcontroller with a few GPIO pins can run it.
