PLL clock source for low-voltage digital systems
The Texas Instruments CDCE925PWG4 is a PLL-based clock generator that takes a single LVCMOS or crystal reference and produces five LVCMOS outputs, each programmable up to 230 MHz. The PLL includes a bypass mode that routes the input reference directly to the outputs when jitter-sensitive paths need a clean clock.
230 MHz ceiling and the bypass path
The 230 MHz maximum output frequency covers most Ethernet, PCIe reference, and FPGA transceiver clocks. The PLL bypass mode disables the internal VCO and feeds the input reference through — useful for system bring-up or when the application requires the raw crystal accuracy without PLL multiplication noise. All outputs are LVCMOS, so the part connects directly to the clock inputs of FPGAs, ASICs, or microcontrollers without external level translation. The 1:5 ratio means a single CDCE925PWG4 can replace a discrete oscillator plus a fanout buffer on a small board.
