Product details

4-bit magnitude comparison in a 16-DIP package

The CD4585BE: It compares two 4-bit binary words (A and B) and asserts one of three active-high outputs: A<B, A=B, or A>B.

Supply voltage and timing margins

Maximum propagation delay is 160 ns at 15 V supply into a 50 pF load. At lower supply voltages the delay increases — at 5 V the typical figure is roughly 2× the 15 V value, so budget the timing path accordingly when the comparator output feeds a clocked register. Quiescent current is 100 µA typical, negligible in a battery-powered system.
