Automotive-grade transient suppression for 15.3 V rails
The 1.5SMC18CAHR7G: It clamps at 25.5 V maximum with a 60 A peak pulse current, protecting a 15.3 V nominal rail from transients up to that energy level. The -55°C to 150°C junction temperature range covers under-hood and engine-bay thermal profiles with margin.
Clamping and breakdown parametrics for BOM fit
Minimum breakdown voltage is 17.1 V, so the diode starts conducting at that threshold. Maximum clamping voltage at the rated 60 A peak pulse current is 25.5 V. This is the voltage the downstream circuitry must survive during a transient event. For a 24 V-tolerant ECU input, the 25.5 V clamp provides a 0.5 V guard band; for a 12 V-rated IC, an additional series resistor or secondary clamp is needed. The single bidirectional channel protects one signal or power line against both positive and negative transients in a single package — no need for two unidirectional diodes back-to-back.
Package, mounting, and production status
Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the same footprint as standard SMC diodes. The tape-and-reel packaging suits automated pick-and-place assembly. The base product number is 1.5SMC18, with the 'C' indicating bidirectional and 'A' indicating 5% tolerance on breakdown voltage.
