1500W peak pulse, DO-214AB, AEC-Q101
The 1.5SMC16AHM6G: It clamps transients at 22.5V maximum when conducting 70A peak pulse current. Automotive grade qualification per AEC-Q101 means this part is screened for the reliability and temperature demands of under-hood and chassis-mounted electronics — the -55°C to 150°C junction temperature range covers cold-crank and hot-soak conditions.
Voltage parameters and protection threshold
Reverse standoff voltage is 13.6V, meaning the diode draws negligible leakage below that rail. Breakdown occurs at a minimum of 15.2V, and the clamping voltage is held to 22.5V at the full 70A pulse — this gives a 12V nominal bus a 9V margin above the rail before the protected IC sees overstress. The single unidirectional channel protects one signal or power rail.
Package and board integration
Housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the diode's large copper tab on the cathode side provides the primary thermal path. The PCB footprint should match the recommended pad geometry in the datasheet to keep junction temperature below 150°C during repetitive pulse events. Supplied in Tape & Reel packaging, the part is feeder-ready for high-volume pick-and-place assembly. The reel quantity is set by the manufacturer; confirm the reel count against your BOM volume at RFQ.
