1500 W peak pulse in a DO-214AB footprint
The 1.5SMC15CAHM6G: It clamps transients at 21.2 V maximum when the peak pulse current reaches 74 A. With a 12.8 V reverse standoff voltage and a minimum breakdown of 14.3 V, this part protects 12 V nominal rails in automotive electronics — the standoff sits well above the battery's steady-state voltage, so it does not clip normal operation.
Automotive-grade transient protection
The single bidirectional channel replaces two unidirectional TVS diodes in anti-parallel, saving board space and reducing component count on the 12.8 V rail. Mounted in the DO-214AB (SMC) package, the footprint is standard for 1500 W TVS diodes — the copper pad area under the cathode tab sets the thermal resistance, so the board layout should match the recommended land pattern for full power dissipation.
