1.5kW bidirectional transient suppressor for 12V rails
The 1.5SMC13CAH: Its 11.1V reverse standoff voltage and 18.2V clamping point make it a direct fit for protecting 12V nominal DC buses — telecom supplies, automotive power distribution, and industrial control rails — where the clamping threshold sits safely above the regulated rail but below the downstream device's abs-max rating. The single bidirectional channel clamps both polarities symmetrically, eliminating the need for two back-to-back unidirectional devices on a bipolar line. Peak pulse current is 86A at the 10/1000µs test condition, which covers most surge events from inductive load switching or coupled lightning transients in telecom environments.
Automotive qualification and operating envelope
Qualified to AEC-Q101, this part carries the stress and reliability screening required for automotive electronics — engine control modules, body controllers, and infotainment power inputs that see under-hood temperature swings. The -55°C to +150°C junction temperature range covers the full automotive ambient plus self-heating margin. Surface-mount DO-214AB (SMC) package with a tin-plated copper leadframe. The large paddle footprint on the cathode side sinks heat into the PCB copper pour — layout should connect the cathode pad to a solid plane to keep junction temperature below 150°C under repetitive pulse conditions.
