Package and assembly fit
Housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) package, this is a surface-mount device supplied on Tape & Reel for pick-and-place. The SMC footprint is larger than the smaller SMA/SMB siblings — the extra copper area under the cathode tab helps spread the thermal pulse during a 10/1000µs surge, keeping the junction within its 150°C limit.
