1500W Zener TVS for general-purpose rail clamping
The 1.5SMC120A M6G: This is a general-purpose protection part for DC power buses, telecom lines, or industrial control inputs where a single unidirectional clamp is needed. The DO-214AB (SMC) package handles the 1.5kW pulse without cracking the epoxy — the die attach and bond wires are sized for the surge energy, not continuous current.
Above that, at 114V minimum, the Zener breakdown triggers and the device starts clamping. The 165V maximum clamping voltage at 9.5A peak pulse current is the voltage the protected circuitry must survive — if your downstream ICs have a 150V abs-max rating, this TVS leaves no margin. For shorter pulses (e.g. 8/20µs per IEC 61000-4-5), the peak power capability is higher — the device absorbs the same energy in less time, so the peak current can exceed the 9.5A figure.
Active production and sourcing posture
For BOM-line commitment, the key fit check is the standoff voltage (102V) against your nominal rail — if you are protecting a 100V bus, this is a direct match. The DO-214AB footprint is shared across the 1.5SMC family, so a different voltage rating in the same package is a drop-in swap if the rail voltage changes.
